How do you write a biography? And how do you write a very short biography in only ten lines? Who is that “someone” you’re writing about? Who is “one”? Several ones? And who isn’t someone? Do you start by saying, just to start somewhere, that Jessica Trosman is a mother of two, that she has sapphire blue eyes, that her parents’ names are Susana and Quique, that she’s contagiously bubbly and that she graduated as a Certified Translator? Did she live in the United States for a while? Was she born in Buenos Aires? (It doesn’t matter much when) Yes or no? Yes, she was, but she could have been born in Kyoto. Or in Stockholm. And she would have found herself anyway.

Do you mention that she founded trosmanchurba all-in-lowercase-together-with-Martín, that she founded Trosman, that she founded JT - all the Zeligs that included, in different ways, her name & surname, from 1999 to 2019, all the various identities she used while playing in the universal Top Division of the f****** world? Two decades? That's right: twenty years creating learning discovering looking drawing feeling stamping experimenting scissoring unsettling laughing. Twenty years, or many more, speaking in textile y language. The words “textile” and “textual” are etymologically in love as they both imply intertwining: they knit, they build, they braid, they weave. So, do you mention that, when she starts a new project, Jessica is daring, reckless, whimsical, DIY, unstoppable?

At the end of 2018, she started to concoct an idea that once crossed the minds of millions of us: to say “to hell with it all”. But Jessica did it the Jessica way: by rewriting the palimpsest of her life. Swallowingthe past to turn it into something brand new? Why not. Why not?Just because! It’s a “no” that slowly undresses in layers, like an onion, to transform itself into a vibrant yes: a yes that gently pulls the thread in the ball of yarn of that no, in a divine sway, like the ouroboros. For the song “Nú Com a Minha Música”, Caetano wrote and sang this beautiful line: “coragem grande é poder dizer sim”. Does it need translation? Jessica got into sculpture. In a way, she had already been sculpting, but now she has removed a thousand skins off her so that she could start all over from scratch. Now it’s sculptures - tomorrow she’ll get into rockets? “I quit all routines, I cleaned myself up, I freed myself, I connected with my past, and all this materialized immediately; textiles are my impression, my stamp, and using them for other purposes became a way to elevate them, to take them towards other horizons”, she says decisively, but we all know that everything that is ending is always about to begin.
